Leather crafts decorating the hotel

Leather industry is thriving in the town of Asakusa.
It has a long history and has flourished as a “Major production area of leather products” for 150 years by the achievements of Katsuzo Nishimura and Eiichi Shibusawa.

At the front desk that we welcome our guests, leather crafts handmade by leather craftsmen in Asakusa are displayed, which leather materials were procured from a local leather wholesaler  “Tomita Kogyo Co., Ltd.” in Asakusa.

The memo pad and pen / coin tray on the front desk are made of cowhide tanned with tannins of a plant called “Juliano”. Craftsmen manually applied multiple layers of dye to develop the deep color of the product. The products were custom made of characteristic leather with flexibility and comfortable feel.

Each item is carefully crafted by craftsmen.
